Gear Corner - Acoustics

We know, we know, it's been a while since there were any updates to speak of, but we're still busy working away on album no.4. It's getting closer.

In the meantime, since I haven't been posting about our gear in a while I thought I'd take a look at the few acoustic guitars that were recently recorded during the sessions for album #4.

First off is a new addition: My recently acquired Cort Earth 300SSF.

It's essentially a Chinese made copy of the Gibson J45, but what a great copy it is. Despite being relatively cheap, this is a beautiful sounding guitar, and has so far been used on every track that required acoustic guitars on album #4.

The other main acoustic that's been used on the recent sessions is my Maton EMGA.

For those of you who've never heard of 'em, Maton is an Australian guitar manufacturer, and as far as I'm concerned, this is the hidden gem in their range. It's a jumbo sized guitar with a Western Red Cedar top, and Walnut back and sides. This one also happens to have my initials inlaid in the 12th fret: a nice little custom addition to a guitar that was a gift from many friends and family for my 30th birthday. I'm really lucky to have some truly great friends.
