We need your contributions - revisiting the back catalogue

With the new album "The Second Hand" having been out for a couple of months now, we're also seeing some renewed interest in our previous albums 230503, A Tower of Silence and Hitchhiking to Byzantium.

To give some of the new listeners out there a chance to sample some of our earlier material, and to give our long-time listeners a chance to have a bit more insight into the material, we're producing a series of podcasts featuring each of our albums and we need your help.

We'd like to know what it is that you want to know about anything to do with our previous albums, or even the current one.

If you'd like to know about the concept behind "A Tower of Silence", or what the lyrics to "Disinfected and Abused" mean, or if you'd like to know what keyboards Dave used on "The Passing Bell" or how the music for "A Room with a View" was written then now is your chance to ask.

We'd also love to hear about your experiences with the music. What songs are your favourites? What songs are the ones that resonated with you first? Which ones are the ones that resonate with you now? Are there any moments in your lives that are connected to a song or an album, or is there simply a lyric, a guitar solo or a bass part that you really love? We'd love to hear about that too.

If there's anything at all you'd like to share or have us answer, either comment here on our website or on our facebook page, or you can shoot us an email at anubis@anubismusic.com

We're looking forward to hearing from you.

What was the first song written for your first album. Did the music or the story/lyrics come first?

I loved the first album, specially, waterfall, leaving here tonight, flying/falling (which was the one that trapped me to listen the whole album) and breaking water. The spacey ambience made me feel sublime, and that space ambience created between all the instruments is just amazing. I'm a guitarist so a pay more attention to guitar solos which were all awesome. Looking forward to hear the new album!!

The hitchhiking album missed me at first. Loved A Tower, but found the new direction lost me when I first heard. Now it sounds like the album you make after the second hand, which feels more Tower to me. Hitchhiking now I love very much. But still wonder what made it feel so different. How did you guys find this new sound for hitchhiking?

Do you guys have a favourite song from each album, and why? Any special memories attached to the writing or recording sessions that you'd like to share And is there a song that you'd call the quintessential Anubis song?

The vocal harmonies stand out and have improved technically and in complexity. How do you write them?

Anubis has always had very musical bass playing and despite different people playing, it always remains a high point. How have you gotten that continuity?

my favourites are the longtracks on 230503, a tower of silence, all that is, hitchhiking and the wonderful guitar solo on silent wandering ghosts ( Live ). I hope to see you again in Germany any time ( best at the night of the prog Festival).

I am a relative newbie to you music. I happened to come by your music on progarchives and a newsgroup, I downloaded hitchhiking and second hand and was totally blown away. After which I knew I wanted to hear your entire catalogue. I went ahead and purchased your entire catalogue from here. As a digital download I was unable to get any of the album art or lyrics. I would love to be able see these. I would also like to know the stories behind all your albums. Two of the songs that I have in my head are The Holy innocent and King with no Crown.

Hi Noor, Nice to have you on board, and thanks for contributing here. Of course, the podcasts have been recorded and will be edited and released very soon, but if you want some more info on each of the albums you can get an overview on our discography page here: https://anubismusic.com/discography If you then click on each of the cover art images, it'll take you to the lyrics for each of the albums. Cheers Dean Anubis
